Following its unveiling of the iPhone 4S on October 4, Apple published a gallery of photographs taken with the device’s 8-megapixel camera. The results were stunning — so good, in fact, that many criticized the company for editing the photos before they were posted. However, this awesome image of a one dollar bill has not been edited, and it’s amazing.
The image was taken by AppVV.com — the same site that published the iPhone 4S hands-on video yesterday. The image measures in at 3264 x 2448 pixels, and while it’s nothing special as you see it above, check out the full size image and I guarantee you’ll be impressed.
MacRumors does note that it would be simple to manipulate an image like this, and because it has that watermark, it has been through Photoshop. However, since the same site published that iPhone 4S hands-on video, we have no reason to believe this isn’t the real deal.
What do you think of that whopping 8-megapixel photo?

ALMOST as good as 6 month old Android devices.
Almost. Welcome to last year.
It don’t really look much better than my droid incredible now if my iPad took pics like that I’d b one happy camper
Yay! A troll!
You cute little git.
Ur right but if u got moto phone then it takes for ever to take one without a custom rom but htc and Sammy cams are just as good or better
Certainly a step up from the iPhone 4.
Not trolling, but, what’s the big deal about the picture?
In Apple We trust!
For a camera in a phone, the image is stunningly crisp and clean, even when viewed in full size. The full size shot is even terrific as compared to many top of the line point and shoot cameras and even some SLRs.
Uh…saying ” this awesome image of a one dollar bill has not been edited” when it’s clearly been watermarked is a bit disingenuous.
It’s also a needless use of the word “awesome” which is used far too much these days.
What BS. The iPhone camera in each generation of iPhone has been consistently rated as the best camera phone you can get. Even when it was 3MP it was blowing the doors off of cameras with 5 and 8 MPs. The optics, the sensor and the image processing has always been top notch and there isn’t a single Android camera that beats it.
YOU AIN’T LYIN!!!
Samsung is ready to counter with the Galaxy S3 and its 12 MP camera. Anything Apple does, Samsung is going to try to outdo the iPhone in pure hardware specs. The race continues.

Sending one million copies of this photo to the color printer … I’m rich!!!
like Apple said, “increasing the amount of megapixels in a picture doesn’t necessarily mean that your getting a more detailed photo. The optics are just as important.” Will the Galaxy S3 aperture go to f/2.4 or have an advanced backside illumination sensor? Will it have face detection? all these need to be considered too. I think apple got it perfect…
Besides, at 12 mp you’ll be using a ton of space on your phone to store your photos if you take a lot.
They may have a 12 MP, however, how are the optics. Are they quality lenses, etc.
